Context

A joint economic mission is being organised to Norway from 16 to 19 June 2024, under the presidency of HRH Princess Astrid. This mission, which will visit Oslo, is being organised by the Agence pour le Commerce Extérieur (ACE), the regional foreign trade agencies (AWEX, Hub Brussels, Flanders Investment & Trade) and the FPS Foreign Affairs.

This trip not only offers visibility and networking opportunities for brands, but also contributes to the promotion of sustainable design by highlighting the excellence and creativity of Belgian players in ethical design.

Event

As part of Designers’ Night – an event specifically dedicated to promoting Belgian designers – we are looking for brands to participate and showcase some of their work at the exhibition organised during the mission. The event aims to bring together various players in the Norwegian and Belgian sustainable design industry around significant works, enabling Belgian designers to connect with the Norwegian market.

Beyond this opportunity, the mission also offers a 3-day programme during which each brand will have the opportunity to plan personalised B2B meetings in advance, with the help of on-site sales advisors.

• meet the business community (B2B) and local authorities;
• establish privileged contacts and meet Belgian expatriates;
• meet local companies and identify business opportunities.

Selection for Designers’ Night

The selected candidates will be chosen according to their alignment with the defined criteria. Each criterion will be interpreted according to the reality of the industry and in an objective manner, taking into account the values of inclusion, sustainability and innovation shared by MAD Brussels, hub.brussels and WBDM.

• Furniture design: This call is only open to furniture brands or design studios producing their own furniture/designs.
• Ethical, sustainable and social: the partners aim to promote a sustainable and circular approach to design, focusing on ethical production closely linked to environmental and social issues.
• Local creators: the partners are committed to reflecting local creativity by welcoming entrepreneurs from Belgium.
• Innovation: Entries will be judged on the basis of novelty. In other words, they must present recent collections or capsules.
