  • How to become a member of WBDM?

    Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode is a governmental organisation whose remit is to provide a public service. As such, there is no entry fee or membership.

    However, our services and grants are available to sufficiently mature creators, designers and companies and in some cases, certain conditions of participation apply. The conditions of participation are detailed in each call for projects or call for applications.

  • How to join our designers' gallery?

    This gallery is an international showcase of the design and fashion offering in French-speaking Belgium. A selection committee regularly analyses the applications. In order to be included, the designer/company must either have participated in a promotion organised by WBDM or meet the following criteria:

    For fashion:

    • Must be based in Wallonia or Brussels;
    • Must demonstrate a high level of creativity and quality;
    • Must have realised at least 3 collections;
    • Must be sold in at least one store;
    • Must be export ready

    For design:

    • Must be based in Wallonia or Brussels;
    • Must offer products and/or services with a high level of creativity and quality;
    • Must be export ready

  • What does 'mature company for export' mean?

    Before venturing into foreign markets, it is essential to be well prepared on several levels, and demonstrate a certain amount of experience. Points of attention include, for example:

    • Having products ready for sale
    • Having finished and high-quality products
    • Must have realised at least 2 collections (for fashion designers)
    • Must have at least 2 sales outlets (an international sales outlet is considered an advantage) or a significant volume of online sales.
    • Must have an export development strategy and a communication strategy.

  • How can I do a traineeship at WBDM?

    On a regular basis, the WBDM team may call upon trainees.

    Traineeship

    The intern will work within the WBDM team and assist them in a transversal way in their activities, with a focus on communication:

    • planning and publishing on social networks (Instagram,LinkedIn or Facebook);
    • website management: feeding the website and updating it (articles, creators’ gallery, WBDM actions, news, …);
    • updating the contacts database;
    • mailings;
    • participation in the organisation of promotional activities (exhibitions, seminars, invitations to buyers).

    The internship is unpaid and takes place partly at the office (Place Sainctelette 2, 1080 Brussels), partly remote for a full-time week (38h/week). Part-time is also possible.
