Damien Bihr graduated in Engineering & Industrial Design from St Luc Liege, in 1984. His professional experience includes: interior design, furniture and architecture, for the Renault network, Grey communication agency, Brussels, TDK Europe, Luxemburg, Baxter Renal, Brussels; interior design and furniture for the Queen Elizabeth Competition in collaboration with Florent Ceni (Zoom Architectures) and Bram Boo; interior design, furniture and architecture, for Eurocities and CCB Award. He recently worked with the CRM (Centre for Research in Metallurgy-www.crm-eur.com) to create an outdoor furniture collection with integrated PCM (Phase Change Materials).
Being a designer. At all times and in all fields there are reasons to work as a designer. Design doesn't exist; design is the result of a series of intertwined positions - political, economic, ethnological, ergonomic, commercial... human.
Designing. I don't reinvent forms but positioning choices in design work generate forms that become "reinvented". These are forms that become obvious to us when we're working; it's not the other way round: form follows usability. Pay attention to usability and the world of forms will have a meaning for each of us.
