Design from Wallonia and Brussels at the FuoriSalone et SaloneSatellite

[Les belges] were at the Salone Satellite and Fuorisalone from 22nd to 27th April 2009 with 23 designers, design agencies and companies.

For the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2009, Wallonie-Bruxelles Design/Mode, under the umbrella heading of « les belges » (the Belgians), is celebrating this paradox by putting the spotlight on a specific attitude that is typical of design in this geographical area, the propensity, more so than elsewhere, to consider creativity as a beneficial « residence » and « inner » life as an essential stage in the construction of a better world, starting with our homes.

The designers and companies selected for this event once again demonstrate the diversity of the approaches, the symptom of a multicultural and often interdisciplinary fertility that has always been a staple of Belgian design.

Can design help to ward off the threat of recession? The policy of promoting and supporting designers and companies from the Walloon Region is a good example. Design is considered as a strategy to develop, enhance and reboost local industry, export and, therefore, international dialogue. 7 young designers at the Salone Satellite and 16 representatives from the Walloon and Brussels design scene (designers, design agencies and companies) in the Fuorisalone (Piazza XXV Aprile, 9) invite you to discover the sun... on the inside.
