Selected by WBDM for its international events
Mathias van de Walle is a pursuer of modularity and flexibility, the object that is practical, easy and economical to produce, store and transport. His work shows spatial interpretation of simple geometric forms. A design that is meant to be manipulated, or even recreated according to the specific needs and available room. Mathias aims to make objects that are both playful and functional, starting out with almost nothing to return to the very basics. Based in Brussels for now over 10 years and established in his new workshop/home since 2012, Mathias van de Walle currently works for Belgian and international brands such as Veuve Clicquot (France) , Bolia (Denmark), Linadura and Liparus (Belgium).
